Open Question: Which warm state is the most affordable and safest?

I am currently in college so it will be some time before my family and I move but we are wanting to move to a state that is pretty much warm all year round.... I need some advice and some places that are safe and warm.... We were looking at Cali Oregon South Carolina but we have no idea what cities are fairly inexpensive and safe( we probably wont be making more than 80,000 a year together).. any help would be appreciated......
